Helmet: At the beginning the game, you'll want to OSRS gold start with Cowl which you can upgrade at level 10 to Coif. At level 30 use Snakeskin Bandana. From 45 you can wear Archers Helm. However, it does need some quests before you are able to wear it.
The next stop is at level 70 with Karil Coif which is unrepairable equipment. It is also possible to aim towards the Armadyl Helmet which is more expensive , but doesn't need repairs. Make sure you wear imbued Slayer Helmet if working on the Slayer mission, which is superior to all other helmets listed on this list.
Boots - At level 30 you can wear Snakeskin boots. At 70 you can switch them to God D'hide boots and if you're able to afford it, purchase Pegasian boots to have the best in shoe footwear for slots.
Necklace - The decision in this matter is very simple as there are only three options. Firstly you have Amulet of Glory which is inexpensive and a good all-around neck piece. There is also Amulet of Fury that costs more, but it is an excellent alternative. Finally, you can purchase Necklace of Anguish that is the best one in the slot but requires 75 levels in Hitpoints as well as costs quite a bit. Ring - For the band slot, there's no alternatives, so you need to get Archers rings if you can manage to afford it.
A special mention is due the Void Knight equipment which can be acquired from Pest Control minigame. This is a superb set that you could purchase without having to spend gold. You need only 42 in every combat stat with the exception of Prayer which requires the level 22. This set offers very good defensive bonuses that are comparable to the Red Dragonhide set as well as +10 percent accuracy and damage bonuses which can be later upgraded to +12,5%. It's an amazing set for PvE as you fight low defence opponents as well as in PvP due to the fact that it's not able to be dropped or buy RS gold destroyed by level 20 Wilderness.
