Warehouse Operative Apprentice

Brief overview of the role

In this role, you will be working in a busy Warehousing environment. You will be conducting duties such as picking, packing, maintaining stock levels and much more.

Vacancy description

To ensure that all orders are packed to customer specification, in a timely manner, correct to pick sheets and that the product picked is of the highest quality.  All relevant picking methods should be followed at all times (labelling; decant etc)

 

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

•Ensure that orders are picked accurately and to the highest quality from individual pallet labels or pick sheets as provided by the relevant team leader/supervisor

•Ensure that orders are picked/packed to individual customer specification

•To ensure accurate order assembly

•To visually quality check all products picked.  If in doubt about quality refer to a quality controller or your line manager

•To ensure that when complete, all orders you assemble are checked off  by a recognised checker

•Ensure accurate labelling of product and shrink wrapping of finished orders pallets

•General housekeeping duties as required and recognition and understanding of ‘work tidy’ policies that are in place

•Correct care and safe use of all company equipment including FLT, pallet trucks (if authorised and trained to use the appropriate equipment)

•To work in a team-based environment where all managers/employees work together for the good of the business

•Ensure you adhere to all relevant legislation (H&S, Hygiene, BRC, etc) and that any violations are reported to your line manager/supervisor

•Maintain and contribute to a working knowledge of policies and regulations

•Specific projects/other duties or activities as directed by your line manager

Desired qualifications

(Some employers may ask for certain qualifications to be held. However most companies don’t require anything)

 

Ideally English and Mathematics GCSE at grade A-C or Level 2 equivalent however all shortlisted applicants will be invited to the training centre to participate in a recruitment event where Literacy and Numeracy will be assessed.

Training to be provided

At the end of your training, you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment to showcase what you have learnt throughout your apprenticeship.

Once the End Point Assessment has been completed and passed, you will achieve a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification.

Within the standard training, you will learn the knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes that are required for Warehousing. This will be met and assessed by a range of classroom taught modules, on and off-the-job training, and within the workplace you will demonstrate your competence through the performance of tasks.

Functional Skills English and maths Level 1 and Level 2 may also be undertaken if required, for learners to have the opportunity to improve Literacy and Numeracy.
